Larios ranks sixth in the statistics of the most popular gins in the world with annual sales of over 1.5 million cases (2018), while in its native Spain it has been the category leader for years.
The brand is part of the Beam Suntory portfolio, although its roots date back to 1866. That was when French winemaker Charles Lamothe and Spaniard Fernando Jimenez founded Jimenez Lamothe Spirit Company, whose products we would now classify as premium. In 1916, José Aurelio Larios took over the company and “baptized” it with his own name; Larios Gin was registered as a brand in 1932. It is currently produced by the Spanish branch of Beam Suntory Destilerias y Crianza. Larios 12 Premium Gin debuted in 2009 and remains the brand’s signature to this day. Its base is a five-times distilled spirit with 12 botanical ingredients: juniper berries, angelica root, coriander, nutmeg, orange blossoms and fruits, mandarin, lime, lemon, clementine and grapefruit.
Larios 12 is a mild, decidedly citrusy gin, masterfully interwoven with notes of juniper and a pinch of coriander and nutmeg. Larios 12 tastes best with traditional Schweppes tonic and orange peel. We add "Larios 12 Balloon Glass" to the bottle.
