Product description

Renowned distribution company Douglas Laing & Co. was owned by brothers Stewart and Fred Laing until 2013, but after 40 years of success the brothers decided to split the company assets and operate separately.

The Old Malt Cask line is now owned by Hunter Laing & Co., of which Stewart is chairman. Bruichladdich, presented here, was distilled in October 1991 and spent 28 years in a refill hogshead (HL 16882). Bottled in October 2019, non-chill-filtered, at 44.6% abv, in an edition of 210 bottles. Bruichladdich Distillery has been producing whisky since 1881. It has been owned by Rémy Cointreau since 2012, and offers three single malts – Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore.

Nose: barley malt, vanilla, honey, green apples, honeydew melon, quince jam, lemongrass, mint leaf, damp gravel, hay and oak.

Palate: vanilla, milkshakes, apples, greengages, lemon peel, green tea, a pinch of white pepper, oak and a hint of sea breeze.

Finish: quite long, with notes of vanilla, lemons, apples, licorice, lemongrass, a pinch of salt and oak.
