Product description
Dzama Rhum company was founded in 1980 on Nosy Be island off the northern coast of Madagascar.
The company’s first aim was to select and bottle Scotch whisky, but with that came the issue of using empty whisky casks. The idea to mature the locally distilled rum came naturally. Soon, the success of the rum trade and the necessity to economise on the transport cost forced the company to relocate to Antananarivo, the capital of the island. At present, Dzama Rhum controls 60% of the spirits business in Madagascar.
Dzama Vanilla, Ambre de Madagascar is a rum matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, infused with a pod of the Bourbon vanilla that grows mainly on Madagascar and Reunion (formerly known as Bourbon, hence the name). It is one of the few distilled and matured spirits whose process of maturation does not stop with the bottling. The addition of the vanilla pod makes the maturation processes go on within the bottle.
