The Glenfarclas range dedicated to Scottish personalities was primarily intended for Germany (one of the brand main markets) and until the 10th Edition (Robert L. Stevenson) was bottled at cask strength.
Glenfarclas 1990 Vintage, Edition No. 24 is dedicated to Robert Brown (1773-1858), Scottish botanist and palaeobotanist who made important contributions to botany largely through his use of microscope. The whisky distilled in 1990 spent about three decades in ex-Oloroso sherry casks and was bottled at 46% abv in 2020 with an outrun of 3,600 bottles.
Nose: heavy sherry notes, prunes, dried cherries and cranberries, honey, dark chocolate, espresso, bunch of dried herbs, old leather armchair, bitter almonds and oak.
Palate: slightly oily, with lots of sherry and oak, honey, toffee, burnt toast with butter, ginger, black pepper, dark chocolate, prunes and mixed dried herbs.
Finish: medium long, with notes of sherry, dark chocolate, prunes, raisins, mixed herbs and oak.
