David Nicholson Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon / 50%/ 0.75l
- David Nicholson was a grocery store owner in St. Louis, Missouri and very likely a blender and not a distiller.
Product description
The patron saint of bourbon, David Nicholson, is a St. Louis, Missouri, grocery store owner who also experimented with alcoholic beverages.
He is credited with the formula for the wheat bourbon "1843", in the production of which Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle and William L. Weller were involved. The brand belonged to the Van Winkle family until 2000, after which it became the property of David Sherman Corporation (now Luxco, Inc.). David Nicholson Bourbon is offered today in two versions - the wheat David Nicholson 1843 and the rye David Nicholson Reserve. We do not know which Kentucky distilleries supply distillates for the aforementioned editions, traditionally Luxco was associated with Heaven Hill. Since April 2018, the company also distills in its own Lux Row distillery based in Bardstown, Kentucky.
