Signal Hill Whisky debuted in 2018 in the Rock Spirits company's offering. The company is based in Newfoundland and has been producing and distributing alcoholic beverages for 65 years.
Its commercial offer is dominated by rums. Signal Hill is a blend of double-distilled corn whiskey and malt whiskey, aged in three types of wood: virgin American oak barrels, bourbon barrels and Canadian whiskey barrels. The blend is diluted with local water to an alcohol level of 40% abv. The whiskey is named after the signal point in St. John's, Newfoundland, where on December 12, 1901, Guglielmo Marconi made the first wireless call across the Atlantic.
Nose: sweet and mild, buttered toast, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, candied orange peel and a pinch of allspice.
Palate : sweet and simple, buttered corn, vanilla, caramel, maple syrup, hard candy, cinnamon buns and a little oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of caramel, maple syrup, citrus and oak.
