In 2016 Macallan Distillery has teamed up with photographer Nick Veasey to create The Macallan Classic Travel Range, a collection of Travel Retail packaging designs.
The artist, famous for his x-ray photography work, has created four images depicting classic models of transport – locomotive, propeller plane, roadster and ocean liner (the x-ray design features on outer packaging and on the bottle label). The range has been personally crafted by the Macallan manager, Bob Dalgarno, from a mix of ex-sherry (American and European oak) and ex-bourbon casks and described as a “modern interpretation” of the Macallan Travel Series introduced in 1999. The Macallan Classic Travel Range was launched in July 2016 in Singapore Changi Airport. (Producer’s tasting note)
Nose: fresh fruit and ginger rounded off with toffee sweetness.
Palate: delicate fruits, rich sweetness and spice.
Finish: lingering with a slightly smoky finish.
