Product description
Cantina Andrian was founded in 1893 and is the oldest wine cooperative in South Tyrol. Its vineyards in the Upper Adige, sheltered from the west by the Gantkofel Mountain, cover 70 hectares and stretch at an altitude of 260-340 m above sea level. The most important grape varieties cultivated by Cantina Andrian are Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Merlot and Pinot Noir. Lagrein is a very old grape variety cultivated today in the sunny vineyards of the Trentino-Alto Adige region in northern Italy, and its name most likely comes from the town of Val Lagarina in Trentino. The first mentions of Lagrein can be found in texts from the 16th century. DNA tests carried out in the new century indicate a potential origin from the Teroldego grape variety. Andrian Tor di Lupo is named after the Wolfshurn Castle (Italian: Tor di Lupo) that dominates the vineyards of Andriano.
Andrian Tor di Lupo is produced from the finest Lagrein grapes grown at an altitude of 250 metres above sea level in the area around Gries and aged in large French oak barrels.
In its bouquet we discover strong notes of black cherries, forest berries and dark chocolate, traces of tobacco and leather, and a touch of spices and oak tannins.
Perfect to serve with roasted beef or lamb and goat cheeses. Serve at 18ºC. Ageing potential in the bottle is 10 to 15 years.
