Product description
Cantina Andrian, the oldest cooperative of wine makers in South Tyrol, was founded in 1893. With 70 hectares of vineyards the company cultivates an array of grapes, mainly Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are sitting at 260-340 meters above sea level and are unique to the area because they are protected to the west by Mount Gantkofel, made of calcareous stone. However Pinot Noir variety is chiefly associated with Burgundy it has been grown around the world, mostly in cooler climate. The name derives from the French words for ‘pine’ and ‘black’ where pine refers to the grape variety having tightly clustered, pine cone-shaped bunches of fruit. Pinot Noir is a thin-skinned grape and produces mostly lightly colored and medium bodied wine. We believe that in the word of ‘Anrar’ An stands for the winery and rar stands for rarity.
