Old St. Andrews FIRESIDE 12-letni Blended Malt /40% / 0,7l
Product description
The Old St. Andrews brand was created in 1970 for the export market. The whisky is bottled in distinctive golf ball-shaped bottles of several different sizes.
The brand became popular in the 1980s by Denis Thatcher, husband of Margaret Thatcher, who was often photographed with a golf ball miniature in his hand. Old St. Andrews whisky is often used for prizes at golfing events and its marketing relies heavily on the novelty-shape bottle. The brand has recently changed its packaging to a clear tube, which makes the golf ball-shaped bottle more visible. The current range consists of one blended whisky and three blended malts. Old St. Andrews Fireside, called “the slightly smoky one” is a vatting of single malts aged a minimum of 12 years.
Nose: smooth, slightly smoky, vanilla fudge, milk chocolate, toffee, apples, peaches, dash of nutmeg and oak.
Palate: pleasantly smoky and sweet, buttered toast, vanilla, roasted nuts, honeydew melon, dried apricots, dash of baking spice and oak.
Finish: medium long, fruity and lightly smoky, vanilla, toffee, nutmeg, hints of hay and oak.
