In 2017 James MacTaggart celebrated his 10th Anniversary as a Master Distiller of the Isle of Arran Distillery (he has been working for the industry for 40 years).
For that occasion the company released a limited edition (12,000 bottles) created using whisky matured in 48 first-fill bourbon barrels sourced form Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace and Jack Daniel’s distilleries. The barrels were filled in 2007, during MacTaggart’s first months as Arran Master Distiller. The Anniversary whisky wass bottled without chill-filtration and at natural strength of 54.2% abv. Arran Distillery is extremely popular among Scotch whisky drinkers; it welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually.
