Machrie Moor is a smoky and peaty version of Arran, distilled from malt with a phenol concentration of 20 ppm.
Its name refers to the legend of Fingal, a giant warrior who chained his favorite dog to a stone to guard the entrance to the unexplored Machrie Moor peat bog on the west coast of the Isle of Arran. The single malt Machrie Moor debuted in 2010, and the eighth batch presented here hit the market in autumn 2017 and consisted of 18,300 bottles. The whisky is bottled at 46% abv and without chill filtration.
Aroma: pleasant combination of citrus fruits with a hint of kitchen spices, pineapples, lemons, bananas, vanilla, honey, lemongrass, white pepper and a gust of peat smoke.
Taste: fruity and peaty, apples, grapefruits, coconut flakes, vanilla, honey, milk chocolate, traces of ginger and pepper and a hint of sea breeze.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, honey, apples and peat smoke in the background.
