Product description
We cannot say today with certainty when Jasper Newton (Jack) Daniel was born, as the local courthouse archives were long ago destroyed by fire.
Brown-Forman Corporation, owner of the distillery and brand, assumes that it was September 1850 (this date is mentioned on Jack's tombstone) and, without trying to establish the day, celebrates its patron's birthday every year for the entire month. Jack Daniel's biographer, Peter Krass, takes a different position. In his book "Blood & Whiskey," he claims to have found old census and tax records proving that Jack lived from 1849 to 1911. On the other hand, the most frequently mentioned date of Jack's birth is September 5, 1846. It is known that his mother orphaned him shortly after giving birth and is buried on a farm near Lynchburg. Her tombstone supposedly reads: "Lucinda Daniel, died January 29, 1847." The jubilee edition 150th Birthday 1850-2000 contains whiskey with an alcohol content of 45%, and its first batch was released in 1999. We do not know how many bottles have reached the market, but they are becoming increasingly difficult to come across.
