Product description
The story of Gosling’s rum dates back to 1806, when James Gosling, the oldest son of w wine and spirits merchant William Gosling, set off on a journey across the Atlantic.
The ship’s cargo included 10 thousand pounds worth of merchandise destined for America. Calm seas brought about a considerable delay in the journey, and the ship finally arrived at Hamilton, Bermuda. James settled down there and together with his brother Ambrose he rented a shop in Bermuda’s capital. The shop operated for 127 years. It was there that the first rum of the Gosling brothers was created in 1857, later to be named the Black Seal after the black wax that protected the top of the bottle.
Gosling’s Gold Seal is an amber-coloured rum, a light rum that was created over 100 years after the original, successful attempt at rum making. It is a blend of spirits distilled both in traditional pot stills and in columns, matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels for about 5 years.
