Knockdhu, the first distillery built by DCL (Distillers Company Limited), commenced operation in 1894.
The plant was closed in 1983 and five years later it became the property of Inver House Distillers, which has been part of the Thai Pacific Spirits group since 2001. The single malt anCnoc debuted in 1993, and the brand's current sales reach 200,000 bottles a year. AnCnoc 1975 is the oldest official edition of this whisky. It consists of distillates aged for 39 years in three barrels of European and American oak. The whisky was bottled at the end of 2014 in a cask strength version (44.2% abv) in a limited edition of 1,590 bottles.
Nose: very rich, lots of dried fruit, almonds, toffee, vanilla, Christmas gingerbread, milk chocolate, cinnamon, bitter orange jam and notes of sherry-soaked oak.
Palate: intense and complex, honey, toffee, candied lemon peel, prunes, roasted almonds, chocolate-covered cherries, notes of leather and cinnamon.
Finish : long, fruity and spicy, raisins, prunes, a mixture of spices and oak combined with sherry.
