Knockdhu founded 1894, was the first distillery established by DCL (Distillers Company Limited). The distillery closed in 1983 due to Scotch whisky oversupply. Five years later it was acquired by Inver House Distillers, which in turn were taken over by Pacific Spirits in 2001. Since 1993 Knockdhu malt has been marketed as anCnoc (Inver House wanted to avoid confusion with the Knockando brand) and its annual sales are little shy of 200 000 bottles. AnCnoc 1975 Vintage is the oldest official bottling from the distillery. The whisky spent 39 years in American and European oak (a marriage of 3 casks) and was bottled at natural strength of 44,2% abv. Released in the early 2015 with an outrun of 1590 bottles.
