The Macallan - A Diamonds Are Forever

The Macallan edition of "Diamonds are Forever 55th Anniversary" was distilled in 2-007 as a tribute to Britain's most famous intelligence agent. This whisky, matured for 18 years, was not only aged in sherry casks, but also for the first time in the history of the Macallan distillery – the whisky was aged in red wine casks. The choice of these casks is not accidental – being a direct reference to scenes from the movie "Diamonds Are Forever" and agent 007’s love of wine, which allowed him to save his life.

The casks themselves testify to the innovative nature of the distillery and are the embodiment of a cinematic narrative in which not everything is as it seems. Russell Greig, Whisky Maker, completes the cask selection with hybrid sherry seasoned oak casks – custom-made casks crafted from both European oak and American oak staves. This is another echo and tribute to the James Bond film – an appreciation of the ingenuity of science that is the narrative axis of the film, as well as the locations where the film scenes took place – the United States and Europe.
