Since 1998, its owner has been Bacardi Ltd., which acquired it, along with four distilleries, from the Diageo conglomerate. Currently, Dewar's main malt components are Aberfeldy, Macduff, Royal Brackla, Aultmore and Craigellachie. Dewar's 18 years old The Vintage, shown here, debuted in 2018 at Travel Retail. Once the blending process is complete, the finished blend goes into specially selected barrels for additional months to achieve full aroma and flavor integration.

Dewar's 21-year-old Double Double / 46%
For 2019, Bacardi's master blender, Stephanie MacLeod, has developed a new Dewar's offering featuring whiskies that have undergone a 4-stage maturation. Its highlight is the 21 Years Old Double presented here. The first phase involves aging the individual malt and grain components in traditional oak casks; in the second, the separately blended malt and grain whiskies go into new casks; in the next phase, once all the components are blended, they go (as a finished blend) into another set of casks; finally, the finish is done in Oloroso sherry casks.
Aroma
mild, delicate notes of sherry, honeyed cereal, vanilla, peaches, apples, pineapple, orange peel, a trace of grilled pork neck and a fleeting hint of smoke.

FINISH
quite long, with notes of honey, toffee, roasted nuts, baked apples, cinnamon, a touch of sherry and oak tannins.
