Glen Grant Nº 2 Distillery rozpoczęła pracę w 1897 roku i zakończyła ją po zaledwie pięciu latach.
W 1965 roku, po kompleksowej modernizacji, wznowiła destylację jako Caperdonich (w gaelickim „Sekretna studnia”), a 10 lat później została przejęta przez Seagrama. Niemal cała produkcja trafiała do blendów, głównie Chivas Regal, Queen Anne, 100 Pipers i Something Special. Pernod Ricard nabył szkockie aktywa Seagrama w 2001 roku i wkrótce zadecydował o zamknięciu destylarni. Prezentowany tu Caperdonich 25 years old to limitowana edycja z 2019 roku oznaczona jako Batch CP/001 (za skrótem CP kryje się Caperdonich Peated). Whisky pochodzi z beczek typu hogshead i butelkowana była w mocy beczki (45,5% abv) i bez filtracji na zimno.

In the spring of 2019, Chivas Brothers (a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard) launched "The Secret Speyside Collection" of its largest single malt whisky edition to date.
It consists of fifteen whiskies from four distilleries aged between 18 and 30 years. Interestingly, whiskies from them are not in the orbit of the marketing department, while they are extremely highly rated by buying companies and private whisky publishers. The distilleries chosen are: "the Caperdonich, which has been out of operation since 2002, the pioneering Longmorn, the unique Glen Keith and the remote Braes of Glenlivet" (since 1994 the latter has operated as Braeval Distillery). Caperdonich Peated 21 years old Batch CP/003 was aged inclusive in American oak barrels and bottled at 48% abv in 2021.
Aroma
peat, damp hay and straw, cherries, apricots, orange peel, vanilla, honey, roasted nuts, traces of burnt rubber and catching fire.
TASTE
bitter orange jam, red apples, vanilla, walnuts, white pepper, a handful of fresh herbs, notes of licorice and tobacco and peat smoke in the background.
FINISH
medium-long, with notes of nuts, orange peel, mocha, pepper, lemongrass and peaty smoke.
