Bulleit Single Malt

The single malt category seems to reign undivided in the hearts of a growing number of whisky lovers. For some reason it has become accepted - not always rightly, we hasten to add - that single malt whisky is a more refined liquor, more desirable to connoisseurs, than grain, blended, or blended malt whisky. Perhaps this is the result of a kind of snobbery, a long-cultivated approach to the whisky categories present on the market. Whatever one may say, with a veritable explosion of new distilleries producing single malt whisky practically all over the world, brands hitherto not associated with this genre of whisky are also taking their first steps in its production. There has already been Jack Daniel's Single Malt Whiskey, now it's the turn of Bulleit.
Bulleit American Single Malt (45% vol.) is a beverage made with a backfill consisting of 100% malted barley, matured in fresh American oak barrels, fired from the inside.
Bulleit American Single Malt Whiskey is a beverage in whose bouquet we should find notes of sweet vanilla and roasted oak, while in its taste the producer promises accents of red fruits, pears, caramel and cocoa.
Buying a single bottle of the new whiskey from the Bulleit portfolio, and which has already appeared in stores across the US, means an expense of $59.99.
Unlike in Europe, and especially in the UK, where "single malt whisky" has a strict definition and is protected by law, this category of whisky is rarely regulated by law or industry in other parts of the world. The situation is no different in the United States, although here there are increasing calls to clean it up. Hence, in the absence of clear information from the producer, it is difficult to adjudicate whether Bulleit Single Malt came from distillation in copper alembics, and if so, whether it was a two-fold distillation, characteristic of most of Scotland, or perhaps a three-fold distillation. We also do not know how long the maturation in oak barrels lasted. However, as the new edition of Bulleit whiskey joins the brand's core offerings on a permanent basis, it is hoped that in time this information will also be revealed to the public.
Bulleit is a brand that is part of Diageo, the largest producer of single malt Scotch whisky. The whisky tycoon - in addition to the best-selling Scotch whisky brand, namely Johnnie Walker - includes 27 Scottish distilleries producing more single malt Scotch whisky than any other producer, including brands such as Talisker, Lagavulin, Cardhu, Mortlach and Clynelish. Therefore, it can be assumed that there is no deficit of knowledge and experience in the company, concerning this particular category of whisky. However, official information from the producer is also silent on possible cooperation between Scottish and American distillers, or any exchange of knowledge and experience. We can only guess at them.
Interesting and worth emphasizing is the brand's commitment to a pro-environmental operating philosophy, demonstrated in its approach to the renewability of raw materials, protection of the environment including water resources, or local sourcing of raw materials. In the case of the new whiskey, this was reflected in the slightly greenish-colored bottle chosen for production, made from glass recycled from used bottles.
Permanent brand offerings Bulleit is available in the current offering of the House of Whisky Online, and in the foreseeable future it can be expected to be expanded to include the brand's first malt whiskey. We encourage you to follow our news section.
