Bruichladdich's Italian Collection consists of six whiskies distilled in 1993.
Which, after spending fourteen years in bourbon barrels, underwent additional aging for several months in barrels from the finest Italian wines. The "Italian Collection" hit the market in 2007 and each of the whiskies included in it was a limited edition of 3,000 bottles. Sassicaia, also known as Super-Tuscan, is the Italian equivalent of red Bordeaux. The barrels made of French oak used in this edition come from a vineyard in the Bolgheri district.
Aroma: fruity and spicy, red currants, oranges, lemon grass, delicate traces of peat and oak.
Taste: barley malt, caramel, red berries, cinnamon, cloves and light oak bitterness.
Finish: medium long, sweet spices and oak bitterness.
