Product description
Glenglassaugh Distillery, located near Portsoy, famous for the marble used in the construction of Versailles, was established in 1875.
The distillery has experienced many long-term production breaks over its 140-year history, the last being between 1986 and 2008, during which it lost its distilling licence (1992). Glenglassaugh came back to life in 2008 under the ownership of Scaent, but five years later the wheel of fortune turned full circle and brought in a new owner, BenRiach Distillery Company, who have enjoyed success with BenRiach and GlenDronach distilleries in the new century. This 30 year old edition is the first offering from the current owners, a superb whisky from another era.
Aroma : a wonderful combination of beeswax, antique furniture, leather, pencil shavings and fruits, baked apples, plums, oranges and raisins.
Palate: lots of fruit, oranges, mango, cantaloupe, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, candied ginger, milk chocolate, toffee and light oak notes.
Finish : very long, a combination of fruity sweetness with bitterness of oak and spices.
