Tamnavulin Distillery is situated on the River Livet and was built in 1966 by Invergordon Distillers Ltd. The word 'Tamnavulin' translates from Gaelic to 'mill on the hill'.
Since 1993, the plant has been part of the Whyte & Mackay group and supplies malt distillate for blends blended by the company. Here we present the historic edition of Tamnavulina from 1986, the first to be included in the prestigious series The Stillman's Dram. The whisky comes from two barrels, no. 1480-1481, filled in May 1967. After 19 years, in August 1986, their content translated into 1,212 bottles of whisky with an alcohol content of 43%.
Aroma : mineral, slightly waxy and oily, with notes of licorice, fennel, eucalyptus, a handful of garden herbs, a touch of curry, apples, pears and gooseberries.
Palate: fruity-malty, apples, pears, bananas, lemon peel, breakfast cereals, licorice, walnuts, notes of cinnamon and oak.
Finish : quite long, sweet, with notes of toffee, milk chocolate, licorice and oak.
