Product description
The history of the Angostura brand begins in 1824, when in the Venezuelan town of the same name, a German doctor began perfecting his blends based on aromatic herbs.
His goal was to find a remedy for the stomach problems of soldiers in the Venezuelan army. Soon after, Dr. Johann Siegert left the army and began producing his herbal tinctures. In time, his company became the official supplier to the royal courts of Prussia, Spain and Great Britain. Today, Angostura is a world-famous brand of herbal tinctures and high-quality Caribbean rums.
Contrary to popular belief, the bark of the Angostura trifolata tree is not used to produce Angostura tinctures and rums, and the brand name comes from the town where it all began, later renamed Ciudad Bolivar.
Angostura Orange Bitters is the first aromatic seasoning (bitters) from the Angostura brand, which debuted on the market after the original, famous Angostura Aromatic Bitters. However, its premiere took place only in 2007. It is an Angostura rum-based liqueur made using Caribbean orange peel and a range of herbs and spices, including cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.
