- Alligator is an untamed bottling of Ardbeg released in 2011.
Product description
Alligator is nothing more than the predatory side of Ardbeg.
The limited edition presented here (10,000 bottles) was released on 21 April 2011, intended exclusively for Ardbeg Club members and preceded the release of the official version by a few days. The name of the whisky refers to the barrels used in the maturation process, made of white American oak and heavily charred (so-called alligator char). Indeed, the interior of such a charred barrel resembles alligator skin. Ardbeg Alligator was bottled for age determination, apparently using distillates 10 years and older, with the original alcohol content (51.2%) and without cold filtration.
Nose: smoke and ash, charred oak, vanilla, seaweed, lemons, limes, smoked bacon, barbecue sauce and a dash of pepper.
Palate : peat smoke, charred oak, vanilla, toffee, dark chocolate, ginger, licorice, nutmeg, salt, pepper and barbecue sauce.
Finish: long and rich, peat smoke, bitter oranges, lemon pepper, dark chocolate and a hint of tobacco.
