Product description
Ballantine’s Brasil, creation of Sandy Hyslop, Ballantine’s master blender, was launched in 2014, the year Brazil hosted football World Cup.
It is bottled at 35% abv and labeled a spirit drink, or to be more precise lime-infused spirit drink. Ballantine’s Brasil is made with a Ballantine’s blend, which goes into American oak barrels along with a bag of peels from Brazilian limes. After the peels have been fully steeped the “lime-flavored” whisky is blended with a greater quantity of standard Ballantine’s blend and cut to 35% abv prior to bottling. Ballantine’s Brasil makes excellent choice for hot summer nights as well as great cocktail base.
Nose: fresh and summery, lime, honey, vanilla, rosehip marmalade, dash of cinnamon and white pepper.
Palate: honey, vanilla, breakfast cereals, lime jelly, touch of angostura bitter, hints of ginger and cinnamon.
Finish: not too long, bitter sweet, honey, lime zest, grapefruit peel and caramel.
