Product description
Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao Triple Sec is a liqueur made from Laraha oranges planted on the island of Curaçao. The climate was too dry for oranges, the fruit was bitter and had little pulp, but the incredibly aromatic peel was key. The Flemish decided to take advantage of this and began to infuse and distill the peels - this is how a liqueur with an intense flavor was created. The uniqueness of Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao Triple Sec lies in the classic French style of the 19th century based on infusing Laraha oranges with grape distillate and then distilling in a "charentaise alembic" - a copper still used to produce cognac. The barrel aging process is also carried out by caramelized cane sugar from the Caribbean and the plant infusion, after which, after combining with the distillate from the Laraha oranges, it spends a few more months in French oak barrels.
And it all started with two gentlemen, cocktail historian David Wondrich and Alexander Gabriel, the creator of Maison Ferrand. They decided that the world needed real Curaçao, because they had all disappeared, and they joined forces to resurrect Curaçao together.
Did they succeed? Judge for yourself.
