Tequila Sauza, made at Casa Sauza, is one of the most popular tequila brands in the world.
It is manufactured in the town of Tequila in the Mexican state of Jalisco. The first company making tequila Sauza was founded in 1873 by Don Cenebio Sauza. It was called La Perseverancia and it was there that the first spirit that was called tequila was made – a spirit made from blue agave. It was also the first tequila to be exported to the United States. The brand was developed by Don Cenebio’s son, Don Eladio, and later by his grandson, Don Francisco Javier who took over the company in 1931 and further developed the export markets of tequila Sauza. All the Sauza products are still manufactured at La Persevernacia distillery in the town of Tequila.
Sauza Hornitos Reposado is a tequila made form 100% blue agave and is distilled twice – first in a pot still and then in a column still. After distillation it rests for at least 2 months in huge vats made from American oak, prior to bottling.
Nose: Baked agave, black pepper, medicinal notes, oak, a hint of citrus and caramel.
Palate: Agave, medicinal notes, floral oak, pepper.
Finish: Medium long, spicy.
