Product description
The Giffard brand debuted in 1885 with the Menthe-Pastille liqueur, the formula of which was developed by the pharmacist and owner of a pharmacy in Angers, Émile Giffard.
Soon Giffard hung up his chemist's apron and bought a small distillery, and the company he founded remains in the family's hands to this day and is managed by his great-great-grandchildren, siblings Bruno and Edith Giffard. Their selection of liqueurs and bartender's syrups is as unique as it is diverse, ranging from the classic Cassis or Curaçao Triple Sec to the innovative Banane du Brèsil or Pamplemousse. The Premium Liqueurs series deserves special attention. It consists of just nine liqueurs, all produced using ingredients of unique origin and specific varieties of fruit with very intense aromas and flavours characteristic of a given species.
Giffard Vanille de Madagascar is created by combining distilled alcohol from grapes with extract obtained from two vanilla varieties (Vanilia Planifolia and Vanilia Tahitensis). In the taste, intense vanilla notes are tempered slightly by tones of marzipan and a pinch of spices. This liqueur tastes best with an ice cube or as an addition to cocktails. In 2016, Giffard Vanille de Madagascar won a silver medal at the Masters Liquor competition.
