Product description
The Giffard brand debuted in 1885 with the Menthe-Pastille liqueur, the formula of which was developed by Émile Giffard, a pharmacist and owner of a pharmacy in Angers.
Soon Giffard hung up his chemist's apron and bought a small distillery, and the company he founded remains in the family's hands to this day, managed by Bruno and Edith Giffard, his great-great-grandchildren. The family's range of liqueurs and bartender's syrups is as unique as it is diverse. The company's flagship product is Menthe-Pastille, the rest are grouped into three categories: Premium, Specialty and syrups. In the Premium category, we find only 9 liqueurs, all produced with the use of ingredients of unique origin and specific varieties of fruit with very intense aromas and flavours characteristic of a given species.
The key to the high quality of Giffard's products is over 130 years of family tradition and experience in maceration of fresh fruits and herbs, as well as the implementation of new techniques most appropriate for a given variety.
Cassis Noir de Bourgogne is created by slow maceration of blackcurrants, the Noir de Bourgogne variety, grown in the Loire Valley. Intense notes of blackcurrants, a touch of blackberries and a trace of tannins on the palette. This winner of the 2014 gold medal (San Francisco World Spirit Competition) tastes best with an ice cube or in a Kir Royal cocktail (15ml Cassis de Bourgogne and 100ml champagne).
