Product description
The first Polish vineyard to gain national and international fame. In the town of Baniewice, three cousins, Zbigniew, Jacek and Grzegorz Turnau began a joint journey with a passion for beauty and respect for culture and tradition. Together with the fruit grower, Tomasz Kasicki, they created one of the largest Polish vineyards, covering 34 hectares, planted with the varieties Solaris, Johanniter, Riesling, Hibernal, Seyval Blanc, Rondo, Regent and Cabernet. The whole undertaking began in 2010, and a renowned specialist from the Rhineland - Frank Faust - was also invited to work.
Since the first mentions of grape growing in Poland date back to 1136, it is strange that this tradition has ceased for many years. The Turnau Vineyard, as one of the few so far, is trying to revive this tradition, showing that Polish lands can also produce extraordinary wines with a distinct character, created with passion and commitment.
Turnau Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020 / 11% / 0.75l
Very good quality Polish Pinot Noir. After harvest and vinification it matured for 20 months in oak barrels. On the nose it is very subtle and slightly withdrawn, it needs a moment to fully develop the aromas of ripe cherries and strawberries, with a hint of vanilla and oak. On the palate it is smooth and full, although still delicate, with notes of chocolate and dried plums, as well as soft tannin. The finish is long and pleasant, with a slightly spicy aftertaste.
It tastes best served at a temperature of 16-18 degrees. It is worth decanting the wine before serving, although it is not necessary. In culinary combinations, it works well with poultry dishes, especially roast duck, delicate lamb, or expressive fish dishes.
