Product description
Rum produced at the St. Lucia distillery based on stocks saved from a fire that destroyed part of the distillery's buildings in May 2007.
In the confusion that followed the disaster, some of the barrels, secured in various nooks, were forgotten and found only after a long time. The distillate contained in them was already too old to be used in the composition of the standard Chairman's Reserve. Instead, it was bottled separately, as additionally aged rum, and met with an enthusiastic reception. Since then, part of the distillate produced in the plant has been set aside for longer than usual maturation and offered in limited editions as Chairman's Forgotten Casks. The rum is a blend of distillates from column stills and copper pot stills. It matures in bourbon barrels, after which the ingredients of the individual batches are mixed together and stored in oak vats for another six months. The individual ingredients spend a total of 6 to 11 years in the barrels.
Aroma : Intense, rich. Sweet raisins, cigar tobacco, honey and vanilla.
Taste : Rich, warm. A blend of accents of roasted exotic fruits, candied walnuts and delicate notes of spices, also present in the long, pleasant finish.
