Product description
The history of this producer began in 1987, when Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray decided to create their own wines that would surpass the quality of those that had been produced in Chile up to that point. A year later, they were joined by Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, who also played a key role in the creation of Viña Montes. At first, the focus was on the production of two labels - Montes and Montes Alpha, which quickly gained recognition around the world, contributing to the further development of the company and motivating it to expand its offer.
As time went on, other grape varieties were added to the family of cultivated grapes. After the first Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah were introduced - the first in the Colchauga Valley region. The following years brought the creation of wonderful labels such as Montes Alpha M in 1996, Montes Folly (100% Syrah) and the first Chilean premium Carmenere introduced in 2005.
Montes Alpha Syrah
The first wine to show the premium path for Chilean products. A perfect example of outstanding quality, maintained for many years. The grapes used for production are subject to strict selection, after the fermentation process, 50% of the wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months. The nose is very decisive and powerful, full of aromas of ripe black fruits, figs and currant liqueur. On the palate, there are flavors of dark chocolate with accents of leather, additionally supported by smooth and juicy tannins. The finish is long and intense, with a lasting fruity aftertaste.
It tastes best served at a temperature of 16-18 degrees. Before serving, decanting is recommended to ensure the right level of aeration of the wine, which will allow it to present all its advantages. In culinary combinations, it will work well with heavier dishes in sauces, roasts, grilled beef, or expressive cheeses.
