How is Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey made ?
It is produced at Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky, based on five sources of exceptional flavor: limewater, the best grains for the mash (corn, barley and rye) and long processes of fermentation, distillation and maturation perfected over decades.
This Kentucky bourbon is aged in new oak barrels and triple distilled to bring out the purity and richness of flavor .
History of the distillery
The Woodford Reserve Distillery dates back to 1812: the birthplace of bourbon. Its reputation is built on its heritage and adherence to traditional recipes and methods. It was here that James Crow perfected the “Sour Mash” process in 1838, which is still used to make bourbon today.
In 1995, Woodford Reserve Distillery was officially listed by the U.S. government on the National Register of Historic Places. Five years later – in 2000 – it was recognized as a U.S. National Historic Landmark .

Old Fashioned
INGREDIENTS:
- 50 ml Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 10 ml sugar syrup
- 3 dashes Angostura® bitters
- Ice cube
- Orange peel
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Add ingredients and ice to a bar glass .
- Blend ingredients for 30 to 40 seconds .
- Pour into a tumbler glass .
- Garnish with orange peel .
Manhattan
INGREDIENTS:
- 60 ml Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 20 ml sweet vermouth
- 3 dashes Angostura® bitters
- Candied cherry
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Add ingredients and ice to a bar glass .
- Mix ingredients gently for 10 to 15 seconds .
- Pour into a cocktail glass .
- Garnish with a candied cherry .
Mint Julep
INGREDIENTS:
- 50 ml Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 15 ml sugar syrup
- 8-10 fresh mint leaves
- Crushed ice
- Mint leaves for decoration
METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Gently rub 8-10 mint leaves around the inside of a mint julep cup and leave them in .
- Fill the cup with crushed ice .
- Pour in the Woodford Reserve whiskey and sugar syrup .
- Stir well with a bar spoon .
- Add crushed ice on top and garnish with 2 sprigs of mint .
- Place the tube near the mint sprig .
- Rub mint essential oil into the glass, add remaining ingredients and crushed ice .
- Mix everything together .
- Finish it all off with mint and an extra handful of ice.
