The Don Papa brand name is a tribute to a historical figure who fought for the liberation of the Philippines from Spanish rule in the late 19th century, Dionisio Magbuelas, commonly known as Papa Isio.
The brand was created by Stephen Carroll for the Bleeding Heart Company. It is produced on the Philippine island of Negros and claims to be the world's first single island rum from the Philippines. Don Papa Baroko is a spiced rum, distilled in traditional copper pot stills and aged for at least three years in American oak barrels that previously held bourbon.
Aroma : Extremely expressive, accents of vanilla, citrus and oak.
Taste: Smooth and sweet, with notes of vanilla, honey, spices.
Finish: Long, with notes of oak.
