Product description
Brandy Vecchia Romagna is the creation of Jean Boutton, Napoleon's intendant and a descendant of a French family of distillers.
As Napoleon's empire began to decline, Boutton moved to Italy and in 1820 opened a distillery in Bologna, where after dozens of experiments he created Vecchia Romagna. This brandy is still distilled and aged in Bologna, although since 1999 the brand has belonged to Gruppo Montenegro. The Etichetta Nera (or "Black Label") presented here is the most popular version of Vecchia Romana brandy. It is distilled from the Trebbiano grape (French Ugni Blanc) in both a still and a continuous column, then aged in large-capacity oak barrels and French oak barriques.
Nose: subtle notes of tropical fruits (pineapple and papaya), sultanas, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and a trace of oak.
Palate: mild, stewed pears, pineapples, dried apricots, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon buns, cloves and a touch of oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of sweet dried fruit, vanilla, caramel, cloves, allspice and oak.
