Kentucky Owl Straight Bourbon, Takumi Edition / 50% / 0.7l

Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition is the second limited edition released in collaboration with a master blender from another distillery (the first was St Patrick's Edition).

This time, John Rhea of ​​Kentucky Owl has invited Nagahama Distillery master blender Yahisa Yusuke to collaborate. Kentucky Owl Takumi (which in Japanese means master, in this case) “is a look at Kentucky bourbon through the prism of Japanese whiskey.” Rhea sent samples of four bourbons distilled from different mash bills and aged for 4, 5, 6 and 13 years to Japan, and after evaluating them, Yahisa determined the proportions to achieve a profile most similar to classic Japanese whiskey. The Takumi Edition, bottled at 100 proof (50% abv), will hit the market in the fall of 2022 in an amount of 25,000 bottles.

Nose : mild, fresh bread, vanilla, caramel, dried figs, apples, grapes, cinnamon, allspice, notes of fennel and oak.

Palate: wholemeal bread with butter, vanilla pudding, brown sugar, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, pears, cherries, notes of leather and toasted oak.

Finish: quite long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, anise, a pinch of white pepper and toasted oak.
