Product description
Château de la Marquetterie is the estate where the Taittinger family story begins. Situated in the heart of the Champagne wine region, it was the former residence of the writer Jacques Cazotte, author of the French classic Le Diable Amoureux, before the French Revolution, and the site of village fairs that brought together philosophers and intellectuals of the Enlightenment. General Castelnau also used the stately home as his headquarters during the Battle of Champagne in 1915, while much earlier, in the 17th century, Brother Oudart, a Benedictine monk, had discovered some of the secrets of champagne fermentation.
Taittinger Les Folies De La Marquetterie Brut Champagne is a blend of 45% Chardonnay and 55% Pinot Noir, sourced exclusively from the Taittinger vineyards. The acquisition of Château de la Marquetterie and the surrounding vineyards, a place known as “Les Folies”, marked the beginning of the family’s champagne adventure. The vineyard grew very quickly and the House now presents over 35 different vineyards and vintages. Taittinger Les Folies De La Marquetterie Champagne pays tribute to this history. The characteristics tend towards density and depth, with rich aromas. Each plot is vinified separately, while in some vineyards they are aged in oak barrels. Finally, five years of ageing in the bottle ensure the wine is perfectly balanced.
Taittinger Les Folies De La Marquetterie Champagne has a deep yellow colour with golden highlights. The bubbles are fine and delicate. The intense, very fruity bouquet leads to aromas of peach and apricot jam with subtle notes of toasted bun and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is full, smooth and fruity, with dominant notes of peach. The characteristic and expressive finish provides slightly woody notes. Taittinger Les Folies De La Marquetterie is a champagne full of flavour and harmony, distinguished by its great richness and complexity. This "terroir" wine, structured and powerful, pays homage to the 18th century and is the ideal companion, served at a temperature of 8-10°C, to solid dishes such as roast meats and fish in sauce.
