Product description
Caorunn Gin is produced in Speyside at the Balmenach Distillery. Built in 1824 by James MacGregor, it passed into the ownership of DCL a hundred years later and has been owned by Inver House Distillers since 1993.
The distillery's main product is of course whisky, Caorunn joined the offer in 2009. Balmenach imports triple-distilled neutral alcohol; it goes into an evaporator and from there in the form of steam into a copper chamber. There, in turn, there are several shelves with laid out botanicals, which are exposed to the alcohol steam to extract the aromas and flavors contained in them. After the process is finished, the distillate is diluted with local water to 41.8% alcohol. The gin's formula lists juniper berries, coriander seeds, lemon and orange peel, angelica root, cassia bark and several local ingredients - bog myrtle, heather, milkweed leaves, Coul Blush apples and rowan berries (Caorunn is Gaelic for rowan). Caorunn Blood Orange debuted in the summer of 2022. In addition to the 11 ingredients mentioned above, the formula includes blood oranges and chili. Caorunn is produced in small, 1000-litre batches. We add a baseball cap to the bottle.
Caorun Blood Orange has a citrus aroma, with noticeable notes of blood oranges and ginger. In taste a similar combination, blood oranges, honey, a bit of ginger and pepper. We recommend serving it with premium tonic and a slice of orange.
