Product description
Tomatin is a large distillery based in the Highlands, owned by the Japanese company Takara Shuzo, part of the Marubeni Group.
In the 1970s, it was the largest Scottish malt distillery – equipped with 23 stills, it could produce almost 13 million liters of distillate per year. Bankruptcy and the takeover of the plant by Japanese capital in 1986 resulted in a reduction of capacity by more than half. Tomatin is the main component of Antiquary and Talisman blends, and is also becoming increasingly popular as a single malt. The whisky presented here is a drink from another era – distilled in 1962, when the plant distilled in 10 stills, after more than four decades of maturation, it was bottled by the Swedish company Magni Vin & Spirits in the Part Na Angelen series (which roughly translates to “Feast with Angels”). This limited edition of 1,428 bottles hit the market in 2004.
