Product description
Wemyss Vintage Malts was founded in 2005 by William Wemyss, who owns vineyards in Australia and Provence, tea plantations in Kenya and Kingsbarns Distillery in the Lowlands.
The Wemyss family is one of the most distinguished families of this region, related to Lord Macduff, ruler of Fife. Today, the company is a renowned producer of blended malt, single malt and, to a lesser extent, blended whisky, as well as the owner of Kingsbarns Distillery. Lord Elcho blended whisky debuted in 2014. Its patron is the eldest son of the 5th Duke of Wemyss, a great supporter of Charles Edward Stewart, who was stripped of his lands and titles after the fall of the Jacobite uprising in 1745. The 15-year-old version, winner of a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2014, is made with 40% malt whisky.
