Product description
The Bock family came to Hungary from Germany and settled there in the 18th century. Since 1850, they have been involved in viticulture and thus production in the Villány region. Since its inception, the company has remained in the hands of the same family, developing and cultivating the winemaking tradition over the years. During the development, a large, two-level wine cellar was also built on the estate, replacing the old one, which is now used only for exceptional bottles of wine.
To date, the vineyard has grown to over 80 hectares of its own plots and 70 hectares of leased land. All of it is located in the best areas of the region, namely Ördögárok, Jammertál, Fekete-hegy/Czarna Góra, Bocor, Makár, the slopes of Kopár-dűlő. The production covers a wide range of products, including white, rosé and red wines, also in the premium category.
Bock Ermitage Villany 2018
Wine made from Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Portugieser, Blaufränkisch and Syrah grapes. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, then matured in oak - 70% of wine in large barrels and 30% in small reused barriques. Maturation period is 12 months. On the nose it is full and slightly sharp, smoothly developing aromas of red fruits, with a touch of vanilla. On the palate it has good texture, with noticeable tannin and well-chosen acidity, deftly combining a bit of cherry tartness with a chocolate accent. The finish is long with a subtle accent of cocoa and vanilla.
It tastes best served at a temperature of 16-18 degrees. It is recommended to decant it before serving so that the wine can achieve an optimal level of aeration and present all its assets. In culinary combinations, it works well with beef goulash, but also with grilled vegetables or mushrooms.
