Product description
The debut of Ardbeg 25 years old in 2020 was for many one of the highlights of the year.
The 6,500-bottle edition was of course sold out in a flash, and if it had been ten times larger, it would still have covered only a fraction of demand. In 2021-2022, we received further limited editions of the whisky distilled in the 1990s, when Ardbeg was working very irregularly, using only a fraction of its modest potential. "If you think that after a quarter of a century of maturation, Ardbeg 25 years old has lost its punch, you are wrong," says Bill Lumsden, creative director of Ardbeg and Glenmorangie whisky. "In addition, it has an extraordinary complexity and elegance that is endlessly captivating; a drink like you have never tasted before." The 2022 edition presented here contains whisky aged in bourbon barrels.
Nose : smoky cream, peppermint and toffee accompanied by classic Ardbeg notes of fennel and pine resin; the breath of a campfire mixed with herbal and fruity notes (bananas, citrus) and aromatic wax.
Palate : intense notes of black pepper, followed by lemon sorbet, candied apples, pears and oranges, and traces of carbolic soap and tar, creamy toffee, aniseed and chili peppers.
Finish: very long, with notes of vanilla cream, milk fudge and a touch of antiseptics.
