His search for outlets for the financially declining Maison Ferrand took him to the Caribbean and Latin America. The sale of cognac barrels to rum producers was soon linked to rum purchases, the first attempts at blending, bottling and distribution. Today, Maison Ferrand is, in addition to the producer of Ferrand cognac and Citadelle gin, a significant selector, blender and distributor of rums from every corner of the world. As the producer himself says about himself, in this industry, careful maturation of the drink, attachment to tradition, diversity and double maturation count.
Plantation Rum Guatemala VSOP Red Pineau des Charentes Wine Cask is a rum from the Destiladora de Alcoholes y Rones distillery in Guatemala. It was created on a molasses basis and was distilled in a column still. Distilled in 2018, 2 years of tropical maturation in American bourbon white oak barrels, one year of continental maturation in Ferrand cognac barrels, and finally 4 months in a single Pineau des Charentes red wine barrel.
Nose: Elegant and balanced, with notes of allspice, fruit, honey, orange blossom, blackcurrant, coconut, vanilla, banana, apricot, nuts and floral notes.
Palate: Rich, notes of varnish, pineapple, plum cake, cherries, gooseberries, rose petals and pepper.
Finish: Fruity, spicy.
