Product description
Octomore single malt debuted in 2008 and immediately achieved cult status. It is distilled from barley with phenol concentrations ranging from 80 to over 200 ppm.
In 2015, the 250 ppm mark was exceeded (Octomore 06.3, 258 ppm), and just two years later, the 300 ppm mark was broken). The whisky experiences annual limited editions, the thirteenth series hit the market in early autumn 2022. The third edition presented here is a whisky distilled in 2016 from 100% Concerto barley from the Octomore farm, harvested the previous year and malted with a phenol concentration of 129.3 ppm. The maturation process used barrels made of American oak (first fill) and barrels made of European oak (second fill) from French producers (Rivesaltes region) and Spanish producers (Ribera del Duero).
Nose: smokey and fruity, barley malt, apples, apricots, gooseberries, honeydew melon, eucalyptus, geranium, marzipan, ginger cookies and traces of potpourri.
Palate : peat smoke, barley malt, honey, caramel, marzipan, candied lemon peel, coconut flakes, nougat, biscuits, toasted oak and cigar ash.
Finish : long, sweet and smoky, with notes of honey, marzipan, candied citrus peel, peaches, pears and oak.
