Product description
The history of the Plantation rum brand is closely linked to the French company Maison Ferrand, founded in 1989 by Alexandre Gabriel.
Whose goal was to protect the old, artisan methods of producing spirits from being forgotten, while introducing innovation at the same time. Maison Ferrand began its activity by producing Ferrand cognac. In 1996, French gin was introduced to the market, the production of which allowed the use of stills outside the cognac production season. In 1999, Plantation rum debuted. Alexandre Gabriel's idea was to import rums to France already aged in tropical conditions and subject them to further maturation in French oak barrels, in which cognac had previously matured, in a European climate. This second stage of maturation takes place in Château de Bonbonnet in France. March 2017 saw the acquisition of West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados and a one-third stake in National Rums of Jamaica, which owns the Clarendon, Long Pond and Inswood distilleries.
Plantation Rum Guyana 2007 is a blend of rums distilled in stills and column stills at the Port Mourant distillery in Guyana. The rum matured for 13 years in the tropics in ex-bourbon barrels before being transported to France where it was rebottled for another two years in ex-Ferrand cognac barrels
