Product description
Phraya is a word used in Thailand in the old days to denote one of the highest ranks bestowed upon his subjects by the king.
It was to reflect not only the highest devotion to the royal service, but also to stress the unique qualities of the person who was granted that rank. The rum brand Phraya was first launched in 2011 in the SangSom distillery, one of the oldest rum makers in Thailand, a company founded in 1977. The rum is manufactured from the locally sourced sugar cane, made from molasses and is matured in charred American oak ex-bourbon barrels primarily. In order to prevent too high evaporation due to high temperatures of the Thai tropics, the barrels are stored in warehouses 4 metres deep, located right next to lagoons.
Phraya Elements is a rum made from molasses, distilled in column stills and matured for an undisclosed time in American oak ex-bourbon barrels in warehouses in Thailand.
