Spey Royal Choice / 46% / 0.7l
- Apparently, there is long standing connection between ‘Spey’ whisky and royalty – Lord Byron married Annabella Milbanke in 1815 and gave a cask of ‘Spey’ whisky to King George III as a gift to celebrate his marriage.
Product description
It seems that the connection between the British Royals and Spey whisky goes back several centuries – in 1815 Lord Byron married Annabelle Milbanke and on this occasion presented King George III with a barrel of Spey whisky.
More than 200 years later, Speyside Distillery continues this bond with Spey Royal Choice. The whisky was released under license from Historic Royal Palaces, which looks after historic buildings such as the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace (the Tower of London is pictured on the label). Spey Royal Choice is bottled without an age statement, although the ingredients include the oldest whiskies from the warehouses (the distillery began operating in 1990). The whole thing is completed by a truly regal presentation, in an elegant navy blue box. The edition consisted of 1,500 bottles.
