Product description
With global sales of 5.2 million cases (2022), Bombay ranks third on the list of the most popular gins (first is Gordon's with 7.7 million, second is Tanqueray with 5.5 million cases).
The original formula for this gin was developed by Thomas Dakin in 1761, and then "improved" several times. The "Bombay" brand did not appear on the market until 1960 thanks to New York lawyer Alain Subin, who thus joined the alcoholic beverage industry. The rights to it were soon purchased by United Distillers & Vintners (operating as part of the Grand Metropolitan concern), and finally, since 1997, the owner of the brand is Bacardi Ltd. Bacardi, in turn, outsources the distillation of Bombay to G&J Greenall. The latest version of this gin is Bombay Citron Pressé (debut April 2022). The formula of the standard Bombay Dry contains eight botanical ingredients: juniper berries, coriander seeds, orris roots, angelica and licorice, lemon peel, bitter almonds and cassia bark. In the case of Bombay Citron Pressé, “Mediterranean lemons, picked early in the season” are added. The gin is inspired by the classic Tom Collins cocktail, and Bacardi emphasizes the fact that no sugar is added in its production.
Bombay Citron Pressé is a combination of standard London Dry gin with lemon and lemon zest. We recommend serving it in a classic Tom Collins cocktail or with tonic water with a wedge of lemon.
