Product description
A renowned producer whose beginnings date back to 1737, when William Offley founded a wine trading company in London. The company very quickly began exporting, then producing its own port, sold under the Offley brand. The moment when the company began to focus on quality and gain recognition and appreciation was the entry of Joseph Forrester, a man full of charisma, who played a huge role in the development of the Offley brand itself, as well as the entire wine industry in the 19th century.
Forrester, created a baron by the King of Portugal, was a respected businessman, oenologist, artist and author of the first map of the Douro region. He left behind a huge artistic, photographic and cartographic legacy, considered today the most important in the history of the Douro. Today, the company is owned by Sogrape, and continues to release wines of above-average quality.
Port produced from Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão grapes, using the traditional method for port. The grapes are harvested by hand, then destemmed and pressed at a controlled temperature. The moment of adding wine alcohol is precisely determined to maintain a balance between consistency and bouquet. The final product is the result of a strict selection of wines aged from 15 to 40 years. On the nose it is very intense and complex, full of aromas of plums and hazelnuts, supported by cedar notes, with the addition of vanilla and spices. On the palate it has a delicate structure, developing very elegantly towards dried fruit, with a touch of chocolate and nuts. The finish is long and delicate, with a hint of spices and cinnamon.
It tastes best served at a temperature of 12-16 degrees. It does not require decanting. Perfect for drinking alone, but it will also work well in culinary combinations with salty appetizers, desserts based on nuts, caramel and coffee, or with medium-aromatic cheeses.
