Product description
Mizen Head debuted in 2018 as part of the West Cork Distillers Co. offering. The distillery was built in 2003 by John O'Connell and Dennis and Ger McCarthy at Union Hall.
After ten years, the plant moved to Skibbereen, where it operates to this day, distilling malt and grain whiskey. The name of the whiskey, in turn, refers to the southernmost point on the Mizen Peninsula in County Cork, a signal point with a lighthouse (visible on the label) and the headquarters of the weather station. The Mizen Head presented here is a standard blended Irish whiskey, "a subtle blend of grain and malt distillates aged in sherry casks". The whiskey is bottled with a natural color and without chill filtration.
